Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. With more than 350 acres of private land, surrounded by thousands of acres of state forest, Wild Yough is the perfect location for your geocaching adventure. Geocaching at Wild Yough is free, and for our Glamping or Villa guests only. We have set 3 Geocaches on the property in 2014.
Cache 1: Head’s up! This is the closest cache to the Glamping Huts, and a bit of a hike for the Villa. Make sure that massive branch doesn’t fall on you when you are looking for this one!
Coordinates: Latitude 39° 27’01.55″N, Longitude 79° 25’46.44″W
Cache 2: The Waterfall. This is probably the most scenic cache and searching for it will get you to the heart of the property where two rushing streams come together. Don’t fall in while signing the cache! (additional hint – walk up the opposite branch of the creek for more small waterfalls and a thick pine woods)
Coordinates: Latitude 39°27’25.23″N, Longitude 79° 25’24.49″W
Cache 3: The old crossing. This is probably the most difficult cache to find. You’ll have some serious bushwhacking to do to get here! Look for the cache around an old road crossing the creek. The cache will be wet!
Coordinates: Latitude 39°.27’13.58″N, Longitude 79°.25’29.63″W
